DESCRIPTION:
A distressed, aviation-document-style interpretation of Japan Airlines Flight 1628 and the objects reported alongside the Boeing 747 over Alaska. The composition combines the aircraft silhouette, Japanese typography and a dark atmospheric treatment inspired by the crew’s extraordinary account.
IMPORTANCE:
On November 17, 1986, Captain Kenju Terauchi and his crew reported multiple luminous objects while flying from Reykjavík toward Anchorage. The case remains notable because the crew communicated with air traffic controllers during the event, although interpretations of the available radar information remain disputed.
DETAILS:
The artwork includes the JAL 1628 flight designation, Japanese text, a cargo-aircraft silhouette and grunge textures suggesting an archived aviation incident file. Primary witnesses were Captain Terauchi, First Officer Takanori Tamefuji and Flight Engineer Yoshio Tsukuda.
